Samer Choucair: Saudi Arabia Faces a Historic Opportunity to Dominate the Minerals of the Future

Investment pioneer Samer Choucair stated that while the traditional investor is preoccupied with tracking the fluctuations of the S&P 500, China is moving quietly toward a deeper and more influential arena.

In a statement, the investment pioneer added that in a move that appears scientific on the surface, China announced a comprehensive geochemical atlas of its eastern seabed, based on decades of research and thousands of samples. However, a true reading of this event reveals that it is not merely a scientific achievement, but a clear geopolitical message: controlling the deep sea means controlling the future of energy and technology.

Samer Choucair explained that the minerals revealed by this project are not ordinary; nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, and rare earth elements form the backbone of a coming world dependent on electric vehicles, renewable energy, data centers, and Artificial Intelligence. He noted that these resources are no longer just raw materials, but have become tools of strategic influence reshaping the global balance of economic power. He added that from an investment perspective, the world has entered a stage of “re-securing” supply chains, where relying on a single source is no longer acceptable.

Samer Choucair revealed that China already controls the lion’s share of critical mineral processing capabilities, while global demand is set to multiply several times over by 2040. He pointed out that this shift is not just about growth, but about redistributing economic power globally. He stated that deep-sea mining represents one of the most controversial yet opportunistic sectors simultaneously; the market is still emerging, but it carries massive growth scenarios, making it a “frontier” investment arena that combines high risks with exceptional returns. This is not a place for the traditional investor, but for those seeking early positioning at the heart of the transformation.

Samer Choucair believes that in this context, Saudi Arabia emerges as one of the most important potential players in the coming phase. Within Vision 2030, the mining sector is transforming into a fundamental pillar of the economy, with massive mineral wealth and rapid expansion in licensing and investments. He noted that companies like Ma’aden, supported by sovereign capital, are not only moving locally but are seeking to secure global supply chains through strategic investments in the minerals of the future.

The investment pioneer emphasized that what is happening today can be understood through the lens of The Black Swan, where events that seem sudden to most of the market are formed, yet they carry a massive impact and only become “obvious” after they occur. He remarked that the real difference is that the smart investor does not wait for the picture to become clear but moves before its completion. He added that opportunities are distributed between core investments in mining companies and infrastructure, and bolder moves in the fields of deep-sea mining and related technologies, alongside advanced financial instruments targeting critical minerals.

Samer Choucair continued: “However, these opportunities come with regulatory, environmental, and financial risks, requiring precise strategies and calculated capital allocation.” He explained that “the lessons here are not new, but they have become more urgent. As pointed out in The Psychology of Money, wealth building depends on a long-term vision, not momentary reactions. And as Sapiens illustrates, humanity is always moving toward new frontiers, and today these frontiers lie in the depths of the ocean.”

Samer Choucair concluded his statement by saying that what we are witnessing is not news about mining, but a redrawing of the global economic power map. China is advancing toward the depths, the West is repositioning itself, and Saudi Arabia is building a strategic position at the heart of this transformation. The real question is no longer “Will this happen?” but “Will you be part of this game or merely a spectator?”
