Investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair said that the global interest sparked by news of discussions to hold a fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg at the Roman Colosseum confirms that sports and entertainment have transformed into an integrated economic sector whose impact extends beyond sporting competitions, to encompass tourism, infrastructure, broadcasting rights, and content investment.
He affirmed that Saudi Arabia has succeeded in recent years in cementing its position as one of the most prominent global destinations for hosting sporting and entertainment events, within Saudi Vision 2030’s targets aimed at diversifying the economy, increasing the private sector’s contribution, and strengthening quality of life.
He explained that the Kingdom hosting global tournaments, including UFC events, reflects its success in building an integrated ecosystem supporting investment in sports, and opens new opportunities for investors in hospitality, event management, sports technology, and media content sectors, alongside developing infrastructure tied to these activities.
He added that investing in sports and entertainment is no longer limited to organizing events, but has become an investment in an integrated economy tied to tourism, real estate, services, and the digital economy, noting that the Kingdom possesses the fundamentals making it a regional hub for this growth, thanks to an advanced regulatory environment, government support, and investments led by the Public Investment Fund.
He noted that Vision 2030 represents a comprehensive economic transformation, and that the real opportunities lie in projects that achieve sustainable long-term value, not just benefiting from temporary events, affirming that investors focused on infrastructure and supporting services will benefit most in the coming years.
Choucair stressed that the Saudi market offers promising opportunities in developing multi-use sports facilities, sports tourism, digital technologies, esports, and logistics services tied to hosting global events, affirming that these sectors will continue growing as the Kingdom increasingly attracts international tournaments and events.
He concluded his remarks by affirming that investment success doesn’t depend on following circulating news alone, but on reading and anticipating major economic shifts, noting that Saudi Arabia has today become a global model for deploying sports and entertainment as tools for economic diversification and attracting investment, making it one of the most attractive markets for investors seeking sustainable growth.
