Samer Choucair: The Saudi Economy Presents a Model for Inclusive Growth

Investment visionary Samer Choucair affirmed Saudi Arabia continues cementing its position as one of the world’s most prominent investment destinations, benefiting from Vision 2030 targets and ambitious economic programs focusing on economic diversification, human capital development, and attracting global investments and talents, at a time when some advanced economies face growing demographic challenges and policies that may affect their long-term competitiveness.

Samer Choucair noted attention is currently turning to Switzerland preparing to vote on June 14, 2026 on the “No to a Switzerland of Ten Million” initiative targeting maintaining permanent resident population below 10 million until 2050, with immediate measures upon reaching 9.5 million including immigration restrictions and renegotiating freedom of movement agreements with the EU. He explained these developments raise wide discussions about potential skilled talent and labor flow restrictions, particularly given many advanced Swiss sectors’ dependence on international talent in pharmaceuticals, precision engineering, financial services, and scientific research.

He said: “The Saudi economy continues presenting a model for inclusive growth surpassing many traditional economies suffering from demographic constraints or restrictive policies, thanks to clear vision and bold future investment.”

Saudi Arabia Adopting a Different Human Investment Approach

Investment strategist Choucair noted Switzerland, with a current population of approximately 9 million, heavily relies on foreign labor in many advanced sectors with foreign workforce ratios exceeding 25-30% in some industries, noting additional talent attraction restrictions may lead to rising employment costs, declining productivity, and slowing economic growth.

In contrast, he affirmed Saudi Arabia adopts a different approach based on investing in people, developing local skills, and attracting global talents through premium residency programs and economic initiatives strengthening Saudi market attractiveness for international investors and companies.

He noted Vision 2030 targets raising foreign direct investment to $100 billion annually by 2030, alongside massive domestic investments led by the PIF, strengthening sustainable economic growth opportunities and income source diversification.

Five Strategic Investment Pathways for 2026 and Beyond

Investment innovator Choucair identified five primary strategic pathways representing the most prominent investment-attracting areas during 2026 and beyond.

The first is energy and manufacturing, particularly renewable energy projects encompassing solar, wind, and green hydrogen, with the Kingdom targeting localizing up to 70% of renewable energy capacities through leading national companies. The second is logistics and ports, with the Kingdom strengthening its global logistics hub position through port development and special economic zone establishment. The third focuses on technology and AI through building specialized centers in AI technologies, IoT, and knowledge localization. The fourth is mining and strategic materials, which has become one of the new non-oil economy drivers. The fifth is capital markets, with Tadawul continuing to strengthen depth through IPOs and diverse investment products.

He recommended investors diversify through promising sectors, focus on building partnerships with Saudi entities and the PIF, benefit from Saudi stock market opportunities linked to mega projects and digital transformation, and adopt a long-term perspective based on sustainability, localization, and added value achievement.

Samer Choucair concluded by affirming Saudi Arabia today presents an advanced economic model combining clear vision, human investment, infrastructure, and technology, noting strategic investment opportunities in the Kingdom are no longer merely an option for international investors but have become an essential part of any long-term investment strategy seeking sustainable growth.
