Samer Choucair: Real AI Investment Begins With Infrastructure

Investment entrepreneur Samer Choucair said that recent developments in the artificial intelligence sector confirm that strategic investors don’t build their decisions on media controversy or temporary headlines, but on the structural shifts reshaping the global economy.

He explained that Amazon MGM Studios’s decision not to distribute the film “Artificial,” which addresses the character of Sam Altman, coincided with the announcement of a major strategic partnership between Amazon and OpenAI, reflecting how long-term investments remain more important than shifting narratives.

He affirmed that global momentum in artificial intelligence is moving at an accelerating pace toward investing in data centers, advanced computing, energy, and language models, as the core pillars of the digital economy, noting that real value in this sector lies in infrastructure capable of supporting innovation and sustainable growth.

He added that Saudi Arabia has cemented its position as one of the most prominent regional hubs in artificial intelligence, benefiting from Vision 2030’s targets, accelerating investment in digital infrastructure, and the role the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and company “Humain” play in developing an integrated ecosystem encompassing data centers, Arabic language models, and qualifying national talent, alongside partnerships with major global technology companies.

He noted that growing interest from Gulf and global institutions in the data center sector reflects a fundamental shift in digital economy priorities, affirming that Saudi Arabia possesses the fundamentals qualifying it to lead the period ahead thanks to an attractive investment environment, developing infrastructure, available energy sources, and government commitment to supporting the digital economy.

Choucair stressed the importance of adopting what he described as “reverse strategic thinking” when evaluating investment opportunities, explaining that focusing on AI infrastructure offers more sustainable returns than being preoccupied with temporary media events or influential figures, pointing out that the concept of “knowledge capital” has become a decisive factor in building more precise investment decisions, through combining data analysis, understanding trends, and formulating a long-term strategic vision.

He concluded his remarks by affirming that the future of artificial intelligence won’t be determined by sensational headlines, but by investments establishing sustainable technical capabilities and infrastructure, noting that Saudi Arabia is moving at an accelerating pace to become one of the most prominent global players in this sector, opening broad horizons for investors seeking long-term growth opportunities.
